Normandy Landing Beaches Tour:12 hours

by admin
Tuesday February 16th, 2016

On this complete, full‐day tour, you will discover the Landing Beaches of Normandy where on the 6th of June 1944, the Allied forces landed on the coast of Lower Normandy to start the liberation of Europe from the Nazis. With your licensed guide, you will re-live the principal events and battles of the Longest Day. Your Licensed English Speaking Guide will pick you up from your hotel in Paris at 7.00 am in a deluxe private vehicle and you will depart immediately to the wonderful region of Normandy. Upon your arrival, you will be given an introduction by your private guide to the battle of Normandy. Enjoy a quick stop half‐way for coffee and croissants.

You will begin your day in Pointe du Hoc, a strategic position for the Germans overlooking the English Channel just between Utah Beach and Omaha Beach. Your guide will explain to you how the US Second Ranger Battalion, under the command of Colonel James Rudder, successfully assaulted Pointe du Hoc after scaling the cliffs. You will then enjoy the scenery whilst driving along Omaha Beach before reaching one of the highlights of the day: The American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer where 9387 American soldiers are buried. During your private visit, your guide will show you famous headstones such as, Theodore Roosevelt Jr who received the medal of honour, and The Niland Brothers who inspired Steven Spielberg’s film, Saving Private Ryan, with the appropriate explanations. After this emotional walk through the cemetery, you will have the opportunity to view remarkable films and documentaries about the Normandy operations in the Visitor Centre.

Following this, you will have a lunch (not included) in a traditional restaurant in Port en Bessin, a small fishing-port village, situated between Omaha Beach and Gold Beach. Enjoy some of the best specialities of Normandy region: fresh sea‐food, Camembert cheese with some great local cider. BON APPETIT!!! After this delicious lunch, you will discover another impressive site of the Second World War: The German Battery of Longues-sur-Mer, part of Germany’s Atlantic Wall coastal fortifications with the four 155mm guns still intact.

At the conclusion of your tour, you will visit the beautiful town of Arromanches where the massive artificial harbour built by the Allies still remains. If time permits, enjoy a cider and calvados tasting in a small local farm near Arromanches before heading back to Paris in the late afternoon, where you will be dropped off at your hotel around 7.00pm.

After a genial and practical introduction we soon settled into the cosy, quiet, and well light flat. Although small it is well fitted out with everything you need, except maybe an oven for warming up the croissants. It would be perfect for two, however, it was also fine even with our two small children, as the sofa bed is a decent size. For early morning shopping we recommend you use the City Carrefour on the other side of the nearby crossroads as the nearby supermarket doesn't open until 10 am. Just up from the Carrefour is also a good patisserie. The location is good for kids as it is roughly between the Luxembourg Park and the Natural History Museum. Overall you can't go wrong with this flat. Highly recommended! APRIL 2016-HELSINKY/FINLAND

It is within 2 minutes walk from the Metro station Cardinal Lemoine and there are many restaurants and cafes nearby, and a supermarket located around the corner. Whilst the apartment is rather small it quite suited our needs as we were out and about for most of each day. Would definitely request this apartment for future visits to Paris. A lovely apartment right in the middle of one of the best districts in Paris. The Subway is just a few steps away and it connects the entire city, so getting around is incredibly easy. If you want to walk to see the sights, its 15 minutes to the Eiffel Tower, 15 minutes to Notre Dame and the Louvre, 20 minutes to the Latin Quarter and about the same to Montmartre. The apartment itself is perfect for two. It's slightly off the street and the windows face the courtyard so its incredibly peaceful and quiet at night. The kitchen is fully functional, we were able to cook quite a bit. There's also a washing machine (although no dryer) which cuts down on the amount of clothes you need to bring. The internet is fast and reliable. All in all, a charming place with the best possible location. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Paris!   June 2015, Houston

Awesome location, clean, a bit small but livable, and Nadia was timely and responsive which made our trip easier. Must warn those who are spoiled by elevators and air conditioning, that this place has NEITHER! So be prepared to go up the spiraling Great Wall of Paris   Philadephie/PENNSYLVANIE-August 2016

Beautiful apartment! Nadia was such a great host and was very good with communication. She had someone wait until midnight for us to check in because our flight got in late. It was a perfect place to stay for a quick trip place, and it was very close to the metro station! Thanks Nadia! April 2017, CALIFORNIA-US
