Normandy Landing Beaches Tour:12 hours

à partir deadmin
mardi 16 février 2016

On this complete, full‐day tour, you will discover the Landing Beaches of Normandy where on the 6th of June 1944, the Allied forces landed on the coast of Lower Normandy to start the liberation of Europe from the Nazis. With your licensed guide, you will re-live the principal events and battles of the Longest Day. Your Licensed English Speaking Guide will pick you up from your hotel in Paris at 7.00 am in a deluxe private vehicle and you will depart immediately to the wonderful region of Normandy. Upon your arrival, you will be given an introduction by your private guide to the battle of Normandy. Enjoy a quick stop half‐way for coffee and croissants.

You will begin your day in Pointe du Hoc, a strategic position for the Germans overlooking the English Channel just between Utah Beach and Omaha Beach. Your guide will explain to you how the US Second Ranger Battalion, under the command of Colonel James Rudder, successfully assaulted Pointe du Hoc after scaling the cliffs. You will then enjoy the scenery whilst driving along Omaha Beach before reaching one of the highlights of the day: The American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer where 9387 American soldiers are buried. During your private visit, your guide will show you famous headstones such as, Theodore Roosevelt Jr who received the medal of honour, and The Niland Brothers who inspired Steven Spielberg’s film, Saving Private Ryan, with the appropriate explanations. After this emotional walk through the cemetery, you will have the opportunity to view remarkable films and documentaries about the Normandy operations in the Visitor Centre.

Following this, you will have a lunch (not included) in a traditional restaurant in Port en Bessin, a small fishing-port village, situated between Omaha Beach and Gold Beach. Enjoy some of the best specialities of Normandy region: fresh sea‐food, Camembert cheese with some great local cider. BON APPETIT!!! After this delicious lunch, you will discover another impressive site of the Second World War: The German Battery of Longues-sur-Mer, part of Germany’s Atlantic Wall coastal fortifications with the four 155mm guns still intact.

At the conclusion of your tour, you will visit the beautiful town of Arromanches where the massive artificial harbour built by the Allies still remains. If time permits, enjoy a cider and calvados tasting in a small local farm near Arromanches before heading back to Paris in the late afternoon, where you will be dropped off at your hotel around 7.00pm.

We very much enjoyed our stay in Nadia's apartment. Great location and quite spacious! The apartment is a bit on the old side causing a bit of a dusty smell, but all in all the apartment was clean. Please note that one bathroom currently is out of order. A late arrival was no problem as Nadia managed to arrange someone to wait for us. Expect to be paying a small taxi fee home for this person. The Hague, South Holland, The Netherland, October 2013

We had a lovely time in this apartment. We felt very welcomed upon arrival despite travel delays and received all of the necessary information needed for a successful stay. The apartment was clean, charming, and the view from the terrace was breathtaking. There are no shortage of local cafes, restaurants (Moissonnier was our favorite), and grocery stores within walking distance. The location made it convenient to walk to everywhere in the city, but also gave us a place to relax in a nice, quiet neighborhood at the end of the day. Thank you for the wonderful experience! This apartment was recommended to me by a friend who previously stayed here. It did not disappoint! Great location, close to bars and shops, the Paris sights were easy to get to. Inside the place is cosy and perfect for me and my partner to stay as a couple. Would definitely come again! August 2015, LONDON, UJ

After a genial and practical introduction we soon settled into the cosy, quiet, and well light flat. Although small it is well fitted out with everything you need, except maybe an oven for warming up the croissants. After a genial and practical introduction we soon settled into the cosy, quiet, and well light flat. Although small it is well fitted out with everything you need, except maybe an oven for warming up the croissants. It would be perfect for two, however, it was also fine even with our two small children, as the sofa bed is a decent size. For early morning shopping we recommend you use the City Carrefour on the other side of the nearby crossroads as the nearby supermarket doesn't open until 10 am. Just up from the Carrefour is also a good patisserie. The location is good for kids as it is roughly between the Luxembourg Park and the Natural History Museum. Overall you can't go wrong with this flat. Highly recommended! APRIL 2016-HELSINKY/FINLAND

The metro station is close , from which you are anywhere fast. The apartment is big enough for four adults. The kitchen is good equipped but some scratched containers need to be replaced. Pull-out sofa is  comfortable. We had a really good time so that the apartment is definitely worth the money we paid. Nadia did not meet us in person but we received many of her help over the phone. The building is in a great location a few blocks from the center of Champs Élysées and close to Metro, bus and Rails. We took a cab for $35 Euros to the apartment. This was the most direct mode. The building is in a great location a few blocks from the center of Champs Élysées and close to Metro, bus and Rails. We took a cab for $35 Euros to the apartment. This was the most direct mode. The apartment was as pictured and very spacious for French standards. It had a shower and bath with good hot water. It was nice having a family room with a pullout couch and TV with American channels. Since I was traveling with my mother, I slept on the sofa bed so she had a private room . The kitchen had a dishwasher, fridge, microwave and oven. Ideal if you have a family or want to eat in sometimes. Also a hotpot and coffee maker. There was several cafes, pastry shops and restaurants as well as a Starbucks within short walking distance. You can walk or take the metro to all the major sites and districts. Versailles was a 30 min train ride. The apartment and furnishings were fine but the rug and the comforter on the bed could use a cleaning. Returning the key when leaving was a breeze as the door locks itself so we just left the key on the counter and went on our way. The apartment was in a great neighborhood but still had a code to for the entryway than a key to the building door and to the apartment door so we felt very safe. also being only one flight up it was good since we had bad knees. The apartment was in the rear so you didn't hear any street noise and it faced s cute courtyard. Since we went in Mid May the weather was in the low to mid 70's so we didn't miss air conditioning. This huge first time I would...
