The Must of Champagne – Epernay – Hautvillers

à partir deadmin
mardi 16 février 2016

The goal of this tour is for you to discover all the aspects of Champagne: the vineyards and history, a prestigious house of Champagne, a small producer and a commented tasting. Have fun!

Your Licensed English-Speaking Guide will pick you up from your hotel in Paris at 8.00am in a deluxe private vehicle. He is also a Professional Sommelier graduated from the French Wine University. During this tour you will enjoy the advice of a wine expert and share unforgettable moments with him. (Our experienced wine consultant works with top quality wine growers and will teach you the main bases for a Champagne tasting).

Only one hour East of Paris, you will begin your day with a stop in the middle of the vineyards where your guide will explain to you about Terroir, geography and grape varieties. Following this, a private, guided visit to a small and exclusive local wine producer will help you appreciate all the stages of making Champagne wines, from vinification to labelling the bottles. You will be able to taste 3 different Champagnes: a Blanc de Noirs, a Blanc de Blancs and a Rosé de Saignée.

After this first tasting, enjoy the scenery whilst driving along the Champagne wine road to reach the village of Hautvillers, the birthplace of Champagne, where Dom Perignon invented the precious beverage at the end of the 17th century. Enjoy a private visit at the Church of the Benedectine Monastery owned by Moet & Chandon and discover where Dom Perignon is buried.

After the Church, it is now time to have a commented tasting with your sommelier in a unique Champagne bar. The best time for tasting is actually just before lunch! Enjoy a selection of three or six glasses of Champagne in a great atmosphere.

Following this, you will have a gastronomic lunch in a traditional restaurant in Epernay. Because of its strategic geographical situation, Epernay, surrounded by vineyards is known as the Capital of Champagne. In accordance with your wishes, we will make a booking at the best place. Our guide knows all the authentic and local restaurants far from the tourist crowds.

Time for digestion! Following your lunch, you will visit the most prestigious House of Champagne in the world: Moet et Chandon, or similar (we can make arrangements to view other houses following your wishes such as; Ruinart, Veuve Cliquot, Pommery…) and you will discover the opposite of what you saw in the morning: Luxury and Prestige! Enjoy a final tasting in the biggest cellar of Epernay before heading back to Paris in the late afternoon, where you will be dropped off at your hotel around 6.00pm.

A little bit of history, a variety of visits and a tasting in the middle is the perfect recipe for a great one-day tour in Champagne,” Steeve CALVO, Sommelier.

Cellar visits and lunch are not included in our rates; however, these can be paid on the day locally. Personal expenses, tips and gratuities are also not included.

Highlights of the tour include:
•    Service of a Professional wine expert graduated from the French Wine University
•    Stop in the vineyards and explanations about Terroir
•    Private visit with a local producer
•    Commented wine tasting in a Champagne bar with a sommelier
•    Private transportation in deluxe air‐conditioned mini‐vans
•    Photo‐stops at your convenience
•    Pick‐up and drop off at your hotel in Paris

Our tours are designed in the spirit of establishing sincere contact with the French and sharing the lively French culture.

We thank you for your booking and wish you a wonderful time in Champagne.

This apt. in the Latin Quarter was wonderful. It heightened our Paris experience with its charm and location - one could not ask for more - we stayed a week. We were greeted by Tony, he was responsive to our needs and helpful in orientating us. The balcony is awesome, you have a roof-line view of the area and Pantheon. It is a walk up of 6 flights - but not really an issue. You are close to 2 Metro stations, a stone's throw from the Isle St. Louis/Notre Dame/Marais and a 10 min walk to Jardin Luxembourg. There are plenty of cafes and small grocers (open really late!) One suggestion upon arriving from CDG: take the RER - an easy hop on from the airport to St. Michel station. This brings you to (website hidden) Germain - take the 10 min walk and start (or end) your Parisian experience with the charm of The Blvd. This was pointed out by Tony when we left - it saves you a bunch of $$ on a taxi and you don't have to deal with Metro stairs on transferring. I would stay here again - longer. Merci Nadia et Tony! Greg/January 2015/LOS ANGELES-CALIFORNIA

We were very happy in this delightful little flat. It was comfortable and was provided with everything one could possibly need, without being ostentatious- in other words, it was as 'authentic' a Parisien experience in the best sort of way that it could be. Also the situation was perfect - a nice quiet street, but just round the corner, and within easy walking distance, from all the interesting places in the Marais and down to the Seine.... I would definitely return here next time.   kaitie, AUSTIN, SEPTEMBER 2014

We were a family of 5 staying in ‘The Artist’ for my father’s 70th birthday with three adults and two teenagers. Although not spacious for five persons -in particular the kitchen- it was perfectly useable and had everything we needed including a sieve for pasta and egg timer for eggs in the morning! It was a great central location allowing us to access the museums Picasso, Pompado, Louvre, Orangie, Notre Dame and D’Orsay by foot within our four days, saving us money on metro costs. The décor is shabby chic and so don’t expect immaculate, but compared to other flats viewed it was very good value for money. The photos viewed online were exactly as it appeared in reality. The electricity meter made a few regular whirring noises so good to take earplugs if you are a light sleeper, but otherwise a pleasant, quiet neighbourhood. The greeter was very helpful and welcoming, speaking fluent English which was a relief for me. The lift worked without a problem which was also a relief after walking around the city. My deposit was returned quickly and without quibble. I will stay here again if I have the chance to visit that beautiful city again. We had a great stay! Thank you ParisFlatList. November 2015, RAFZ SCHWEISS
