Covered passages in Paris

by admin
Monday November 10th, 2014

They have been developed for only 60 years, from the late seventeenth to mid-nineteenth century.
Each passage has its own characteristics but they all have one thing in common – these are all private roads open to the public or not, depending on the private owners.
Innovative, both in architectural form and by their social role; Systematically lined with shops, the passages are places of great diversity. Mostly inhabited by floor, they mingle luxury shops, toy shops, theaters, bookshops and restaurants.
Among the sixty covered walkways that existed in their day, there remains a dozen, grouped on the right bank. Most are either classified as a historical monument, are registered as a historical monument or protected by the local Master Plan / protection of Paris.

We were shown a room that was indeed cute (i.e. tiny), but was stocked with everything we might have needed in the way of dry goods. Since we weren't going to be spending much time there, it didn't need to be anything more than a place to sleep, shower and eat the occasional meal. It served that purpose admirably. It...

It was within 5 minutes of anything we might have needed. There was a clothes washer (no dryer though, but there was a laundromat within walking distance), a dishwasher, a toaster oven/broiler, a drip coffee maker, and a kettle, plus a two-burner countertop stove, and a little fridge. They even provided a blow dryer in the little bathroom. Just remember to bring your own toiletries (i.e. shampoo & conditioner, etc.) as those are not provided. The owner bent over backwards to accomodate our needs and even stored our luggage in her home for a few hours as there was going to be a gap in time between our leaving Paris and the new tennant taking over the flat and we didn't want to have to carry our luggage around with us for that whole time. She was absolutely wonderful about everything. I highly recommend this flat. I can't say enough good things about it. Mississauga, Ontario, Canada May 2014,

The apartment was wonderful! fantastic location 2 blocks from the Seine and 2 more to Notre Dame, easy walking to all the museums and parks along the river as well as the isle st louis with lots of great, affordable restaurants. Cafe Med! the bed was comfortable and the full height and length mirrors on the closet made it seem bigger and added to the fun. the 3 windows allowed for plenty of light and air and the blackout curtains were effective at blocking the light for late sleeping. pretty quiet (for a big city) 1 way street and the other building tenants were quiet. the 92 stairs up were tough our first day with luggage but were not a big deal otherwise. The kitchen has 2 burner electric cooktop and a microwave but no stove. We made drip coffee everyday (no coffee grinder so buy ground coffee) and the milk steamer on the espresso machine was a nice treat. plenty of nearby grocery stores. The dishwasher was nice to have. although there is no clothes drier we found the heated towel rack left the towels soft and warm for the next use, really nice. Dishwasher, laundry detergent, coffee filters, etc and basic condiments were well stocked. the Sony stereo has a CD player and high quality sound. Wifi worked great. If you travel from outside Europe you will need power adapters for your electrical appliances although the wifi and cable boxes have standard USB ports for charging cell phones which helped alot. 2 different Metro lines within 5 minute walk as well as the 87 bus (which goes from the Eiffel tower directly to a stop 1 block away) and the 67 bus (which goes to Montmartre from the same stop) made it really easy to get around. If...

It is within 2 minutes walk from the Metro station Cardinal Lemoine and there are many restaurants and cafes nearby, and a supermarket located around the corner. Whilst the apartment is rather small it quite suited our needs as we were out and about for most of each day. Would definitely request this apartment for future visits to Paris. My girlfriend and I both instantly fell in love with the apartment, it is even nicer in person compared to the pictures. We also started to appreciate the location after visiting other areas as it is really central and lively. The host was really accessible and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall great experience! New York, September 2017

The location is about five minutes walking to the metro which is ideal ,and there a few nice Chinese restaurants and pizza places nearby, as well as a supermarket across the road. We didn't actually meet Nadia, but she was very helpful and easy to contact via email or text. She sent Giuli to assist us on our arrival who was prompt and helpful. I would happily consider staying at this apartment again should I wish to stay in Paris, as it is ideal for 2-4 people and has all necessary accessories. SHERCOCK IRELAND-JUNE 2016
