The Must of Champagne – Epernay – Hautvillers

by admin
Tuesday February 16th, 2016

The goal of this tour is for you to discover all the aspects of Champagne: the vineyards and history, a prestigious house of Champagne, a small producer and a commented tasting. Have fun!

Your Licensed English-Speaking Guide will pick you up from your hotel in Paris at 8.00am in a deluxe private vehicle. He is also a Professional Sommelier graduated from the French Wine University. During this tour you will enjoy the advice of a wine expert and share unforgettable moments with him. (Our experienced wine consultant works with top quality wine growers and will teach you the main bases for a Champagne tasting).

Only one hour East of Paris, you will begin your day with a stop in the middle of the vineyards where your guide will explain to you about Terroir, geography and grape varieties. Following this, a private, guided visit to a small and exclusive local wine producer will help you appreciate all the stages of making Champagne wines, from vinification to labelling the bottles. You will be able to taste 3 different Champagnes: a Blanc de Noirs, a Blanc de Blancs and a Rosé de Saignée.

After this first tasting, enjoy the scenery whilst driving along the Champagne wine road to reach the village of Hautvillers, the birthplace of Champagne, where Dom Perignon invented the precious beverage at the end of the 17th century. Enjoy a private visit at the Church of the Benedectine Monastery owned by Moet & Chandon and discover where Dom Perignon is buried.

After the Church, it is now time to have a commented tasting with your sommelier in a unique Champagne bar. The best time for tasting is actually just before lunch! Enjoy a selection of three or six glasses of Champagne in a great atmosphere.

Following this, you will have a gastronomic lunch in a traditional restaurant in Epernay. Because of its strategic geographical situation, Epernay, surrounded by vineyards is known as the Capital of Champagne. In accordance with your wishes, we will make a booking at the best place. Our guide knows all the authentic and local restaurants far from the tourist crowds.

Time for digestion! Following your lunch, you will visit the most prestigious House of Champagne in the world: Moet et Chandon, or similar (we can make arrangements to view other houses following your wishes such as; Ruinart, Veuve Cliquot, Pommery…) and you will discover the opposite of what you saw in the morning: Luxury and Prestige! Enjoy a final tasting in the biggest cellar of Epernay before heading back to Paris in the late afternoon, where you will be dropped off at your hotel around 6.00pm.

A little bit of history, a variety of visits and a tasting in the middle is the perfect recipe for a great one-day tour in Champagne,” Steeve CALVO, Sommelier.

Cellar visits and lunch are not included in our rates; however, these can be paid on the day locally. Personal expenses, tips and gratuities are also not included.

Highlights of the tour include:
•    Service of a Professional wine expert graduated from the French Wine University
•    Stop in the vineyards and explanations about Terroir
•    Private visit with a local producer
•    Commented wine tasting in a Champagne bar with a sommelier
•    Private transportation in deluxe air‐conditioned mini‐vans
•    Photo‐stops at your convenience
•    Pick‐up and drop off at your hotel in Paris

Our tours are designed in the spirit of establishing sincere contact with the French and sharing the lively French culture.

Nadia and Tony were easy to communicate with, in e mail and on the phone, and they English very well. They accommodated some special requests we had based on our specific travel agenda. We were personally welcomed to the apartment, and shown all the particulars. The apartment had everything you might need, and was as nice, spacious, bright, and airy as we imagined. It is perfectly located for exploring Paris on foot, or by subway. The local community is also lively and has all the shops, grocery, and restaurants when you just want to stay local. We found the bed to be very comfortable and the bathroom and shower relatively spacious with good water pressure and temp. All in all we had a great time and highly recommend this accommodation. For us it was our first visit to Paris and our fifth wedding anniversary and we just loved it. Thanks Nadia and Tony for a great visit!!! Ralf and Arisleyda STAMFORD/CONNECTICUT/US-JUNE 2015

Really nice apartment in beautiful area! On arrival apartment was clean and full of light. Perfect location, just few minutes away from the cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris but not that crowd of tourists that it may suppose to be. Small street marked near there is just perfect to buy something for breakfast. Moscow/Russia-Leo Elkervitch-April 2015

We had a wonderful time in this sunny penthouse apartment. Nadia was helpful and responsive to all my questions, both before our trip and once we were in Paris. The apartment is very nicely equipped and charmingly decorated, with plenty of personal touches that would not be possible in a hotel. The light filled greenhouse-like dining room made the perfect place to enjoy breakfast, and plan our day, while watching the clouds come and go overhead. The kitchen is small but filled with anything you might need to make a meal and it comes equipped with a nifty European clothes washer/dryer - that, once you align the dial properly, both washes and drys your clothes in a single appliance. The bedrooms were comfortable and quiet. While the bath was very nice, all lined in marble, with a separate loo for the toilet and an additional tiny sink, this came in quite handy since there were five adults in our group. The one drawback was the sofa bed, which is not comfortable as a bed or as a sofa - it's too soft seat cushions unfold to make a very soft bed mattress directly on the (hard) floor. There is a sort plank across the front the sofa at the floor level that made it quite uncomfortable to sleep with your head towards the back of the sofa, sleeping with your head at the foot of this "bed" was better, but not great. Otherwise the salon was a really pleasant room, filled with books and magazines, as well as a TV - where we gathered each evening to discuss our options for the next day. We did have one glitch in that the toilet started to leak after a few days, but this problem was handled in the nicest way -...

The apartment was wonderful! fantastic location 2 blocks from the Seine and 2 more to Notre Dame, easy walking to all the museums and parks along the river as well as the isle st louis with lots of great, affordable restaurants. Cafe Med! the bed was comfortable and the full height and length mirrors on the closet made it seem bigger and added to the fun. the 3 windows allowed for plenty of light and air and the blackout curtains were effective at blocking the light for late sleeping. pretty quiet (for a big city) 1 way street and the other building tenants were quiet. the 92 stairs up were tough our first day with luggage but were not a big deal otherwise. The kitchen has 2 burner electric cooktop and a microwave but no stove. We made drip coffee everyday (no coffee grinder so buy ground coffee) and the milk steamer on the espresso machine was a nice treat. plenty of nearby grocery stores. The dishwasher was nice to have. although there is no clothes drier we found the heated towel rack left the towels soft and warm for the next use, really nice. Dishwasher, laundry detergent, coffee filters, etc and basic condiments were well stocked. the Sony stereo has a CD player and high quality sound. Wifi worked great. If you travel from outside Europe you will need power adapters for your electrical appliances although the wifi and cable boxes have standard USB ports for charging cell phones which helped alot. 2 different Metro lines within 5 minute walk as well as the 87 bus (which goes from the Eiffel tower directly to a stop 1 block away) and the 67 bus (which goes to Montmartre from the same stop) made it really easy to get around. If...

Sweet apartment at Marais, heart of Paris. Unadulterated old European charm, last floor up a curvy staircase, authentic Parisian style. Sweet apartment at Marais, heart of Paris. Unadulterated old European charm, last floor up a curvy staircase, authentic Parisian style. If you want to get the ultimate Parisian experience from within, not flashy but very much real - this is the place to go. Nadia was extremely helpful at all the stages of the trip, even before we set foot on French soil. She was responding to our emails and inquiries usually within one hour or less, very accessible! Eliane, the apartment owner who stayed next door, was also very available, helpful and open to share. Both know perfect English (not a given in France), which makes communication a breeze. Fridge is small and ancient but works well, and all the appliances are in perfect working order. WiFi is there and it's working. If you love philosophy and history and Latin, and you read French, Eliane has plenty of those books on her shelves. Bottom line:  Like that croissant out of a stove just few minutes ago in a coffee shop at the corner down the street, go for this delicious, tender, warm, unassuming and madly romantic taste of real France! Looking forward to visiting Nadia's place again! Jerusalem, Israel , August 2011

After a genial and practical introduction we soon settled into the cosy, quiet, and well light flat. Although small it is well fitted out with everything you need, except maybe an oven for warming up the croissants. It would be perfect for two, however, it was also fine even with our two small children, as the sofa bed is a decent size. For early morning shopping we recommend you use the City Carrefour on the other side of the nearby crossroads as the nearby supermarket doesn't open until 10 am. Just up from the Carrefour is also a good patisserie. The location is good for kids as it is roughly between the Luxembourg Park and the Natural History Museum. Overall you can't go wrong with this flat. Highly recommended! APRIL 2016-HELSINKY/FINLAND

We were shown a room that was indeed cute (i.e. tiny), but was stocked with everything we might have needed in the way of dry goods. We were shown a room that was indeed cute (i.e. tiny), but was stocked with everything we might have needed in the way of dry goods. Since we weren't going to be spending much time there, it didn't need to be anything more than a place to sleep, shower and eat the occasional meal. It served that purpose admirably. It was within 5 minutes of anything we might have needed. There was a clothes washer (no dryer though, but there was a laundromat within walking distance), a dishwasher, a toaster oven/broiler, a drip coffee maker, and a kettle, plus a two-burner countertop stove, and a little fridge. They even provided a blow dryer in the little bathroom. Just remember to bring your own toiletries (i.e. shampoo & conditioner, etc.) as those are not provided. The owner bent over backwards to accomodate our needs and even stored our luggage in her home for a few hours as there was going to be a gap in time between our leaving Paris and the new tennant taking over the flat and we didn't want to have to carry our luggage around with us for that whole time. She was absolutely wonderful about everything. I highly recommend this flat. I can't say enough good things about it. Mississauga, Ontario, Canada May 2014,
