Paris Montmartre Private Walking Tour

Thursday November 20th, 2014

This area is an ancient village which was annexed from Paris in 1860. Montmartre is located in the 18th district in the north of the capital, perched at 130m high on the famous “Butte Montmartre.
The Basilica of the Sacred Heart, overlooks Paris from the top of its 237 stairs, making it, with the Eiffel Tower, the highest monument in Paris . It offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the capital. On a clear day, you can even see the surrounding area as far as 30km.
Finally, close to the Basilica, you will find the famous Place du Tertre, a lively square filled with artists of all kinds, painters, and from where wind picturesque, narrow, winding streets.
At the corner you will come across the Espace Dali, a permanent exhibition dedicated to the master of surrealism.
In the early twentieth century Montmartre became the headquarters of many artists, including Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec, Van Gogh and more. The Montmartre is also a popular place for lovers of theaters and cabarets and this is where you will find the legendary “Black Cat” and “Lapin Agile”.
Edith Piaf and Georges Brassens both began their musical careers in these small arts lanes.
At the corner of Rue Lepic, you will find the “Moulin de la Galette” Cabaret once popular called “La Guinguette”).
Immortalized by French impressionist painter Renoir, this is the only working mill left in Montmartre. There is also a much better known Mill at the foot of Montmartre : Moulin Rouge de Pigalle
This is also a popular area for its cabarets, bars and night clubs.

Whilst the apartment is rather small it quite suited our needs as we were out and about for most of each day. Would definitely request this apartment for future visits to Paris. This apt was great. Very clean, and close to the metro, notre dame, and a great gastro area. It's cosy, but we had ample space. Communication was great, and although we didn't meet Nadia, Tony was waiting for us on arrival. Yes, stairs, but that's mentioned clearly. Would definitely recommend this spot in Paris, and would certainly stay here again. Brad Bower, Calgary, CANADA, stay April 2016

We had a wonderful time in this sunny penthouse apartment. Nadia was helpful and responsive to all my questions, both before our trip and once we were in Paris. The apartment is very nicely equipped and charmingly decorated, with plenty of personal touches that would not be possible in a hotel. The light filled greenhouse-like dining room made the perfect place to enjoy breakfast, and plan our day, while watching the clouds come and go overhead. The kitchen is small but filled with anything you might need to make a meal and it comes equipped with a nifty European clothes washer/dryer - that, once you align the dial properly, both washes and drys your clothes in a single appliance. The bedrooms were comfortable and quiet. While the bath was very nice, all lined in marble, with a separate loo for the toilet and an additional tiny sink, this came in quite handy since there were five adults in our group. The one drawback was the sofa bed, which is not comfortable as a bed or as a sofa - it's too soft seat cushions unfold to make a very soft bed mattress directly on the (hard) floor. There is a sort plank across the front the sofa at the floor level that made it quite uncomfortable to sleep with your head towards the back of the sofa, sleeping with your head at the foot of this "bed" was better, but not great. Otherwise the salon was a really pleasant room, filled with books and magazines, as well as a TV - where we gathered each evening to discuss our options for the next day. We did have one glitch in that the toilet started to leak after a few days, but this problem was handled in the nicest way -...

The beds were very comfortable and the flat was immaculately clean. Nadia communicated very promptly with me and although she was not available when we arrived another host met us and gave us a tour of the place. The flat is in an excellent neighborhood in Paris and is very close to so many of Paris's main attractions. The only downside of this flat was that it was quite noisy at night because it is on a very lively street. Loved the location and the design of the flat. And the great pull out couch! It might be good to have a fan for people to use in the summer. I would definitely recommend this flat - is one of the most comfortable ones I have stayed in. Thanks Nadia! Our first experience with Nadia Bolino was amazing!!!  She was in contact with us from the time our plane landed via text to make sure we could find the apartment.  When we got to the apartment we were greeted by the owner of the flat with the key answering any questions we may have had.  The apartment was very neat and clean and plenty of space for our family of 4.  The location was fantastic with only a 5 min walk to the famous champs de Elysees and the metro was just around the corner.  I highly recommend this flat and Nadia as a host. The surrounding of the apartment is very quite. And the location is quite amazing cuz it takes little time to walk to the Champs Elysees and the entrances of metro line 1. We enjoyed the time living there. BTW, the actual looking of the apartment is much better than in the photos. January 2014 Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China

We were shown a room that was indeed cute (i.e. tiny), but was stocked with everything we might have needed in the way of dry goods. Since we weren't going to be spending much time there, it didn't need to be anything more than a place to sleep, shower and eat the occasional meal. It served that purpose admirably. It was within 5 minutes of anything we might have needed. There was a clothes washer (no dryer though, but there was a laundromat within walking distance), a dishwasher, a toaster oven/broiler, a drip coffee maker, and a kettle, plus a two-burner countertop stove, and a little fridge. They even provided a blow dryer in the little bathroom. Just remember to bring your own toiletries (i.e. shampoo & conditioner, etc.) as those are not provided. The owner bent over backwards to accomodate our needs and even stored our luggage in her home for a few hours as there was going to be a gap in time between our leaving Paris and the new tennant taking over the flat and we didn't want to have to carry our luggage around with us for that whole time. She was absolutely wonderful about everything. I highly recommend this flat. I can't say enough good things about it. Mississauga, Ontario, Canada May 2014,
